Olathe Public Schools Selects Synergy Special Education
Edupoint® Educational Systems, a leading student information and learning management solutions provider for the K-12 market, has been selected by Olathe Public Schools to implement Synergy® Special Education (SE). Already a Synergy customer utilizing the Synergy Education Platform, Olathe Public Schools will benefit from the streamlined administration of a fully integrated student information and special education management solution that promotes collaboration, ensures legal compliance and helps special education students succeed.
Olathe Public Schools, located just south of metropolitan Kansas City, supports over 29,000 students across 52 campuses. Having received an end-of-life notification for their existing special education software, the district researched top solution providers across the county and narrowed their selection to three via an extensive RFP and solution demonstration process. The district ultimately selected Synergy SE based on its powerful feature set – which includes process automation, a collaborative work environment, and Medicaid management – and its full integration with other Synergy solutions already in place at the district level.
“When evaluating a special education solution for our district, we placed great emphasis on product functionality and ease of integration with our existing SIS solution,” says Rita Lyon, Executive Director of Technology for Olathe Public Schools. “Synergy SE will eliminate the integration problems we faced with our previous solution and allow all stakeholders real-time access to student data for full transparency into the special education process. Conversations that we had with neighboring districts who currently utilize Synergy SE solidified our selection decision, and we’re happy to build upon our longstanding relationship with Edupoint.”
Synergy SE, available as a standalone solution or as a fully-integrated component of the Synergy Education Platform, simplifies the entire special education management process, guiding team members step-by-step from initial referral through program exit in a collaborative environment designed to promote student success. The solution provides district-level oversight to help ensure that federal and state regulations are being met, and since Synergy SE uses the same centralized database shared seamlessly throughout the entire Synergy Education Platform, data is accurate and consistent in real time without integrating or synchronizing with other systems.
“We’re excited to continue our relationship with Olathe Public Schools as they expand their use of the Synergy Education Platform with the selection of Synergy Special Education,” says Rob Wilson, Edupoint President and Chief Innovation Officer. “The district not only saw the benefits of Synergy SE’s features, but also the value a fully integrated solution where all student information, special education, and learning management solutions reside on a single platform. We appreciate Olathe Public Schools’ continued support and look forward to furthering our partnership with them and evolving the Synergy Education Platform to meet their current and future needs.”
Olathe Public Schools plans a phased implementation with Synergy SE in time for the start of the 2016/2017 academic year.
