Number of Minnesota Students Supported by Synergy Surpasses 210,000

Edupoint® Educational Systems, creator of the industry-leading Synergy® Education Platform for K-12 student information and learning management, has been selected by Minnesota’s Forest Lake Area Schools and Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools to implement the company’s Synergy Student Information System, bringing the total number of Minnesota students supported by Synergy to more than 210,000.

Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools is the state’s fourth largest district, with more than 27,000 PreK-12 students. Forest Lake Area Schools serves over 6,000 students from 12 communities.  Located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, both districts are members of the state’s Technology and Information Educational Services (TIES), a technology solution collaborative owned by 48 member districts, serving more than 400 schools and about 40% of Minnesota’s students. In 2015, TIES became Edupoint’s second certified marketing and technology and support partner for the State of Minnesota, joining long-time Synergy business partner Region 1, based in Moorhead.

“We were using the TIES student information system that is now sunsetting,” said Tim Brockman, Supervisor of Information Systems for Forest Lake Area Schools. “When TIES chose Synergy as the replacement system, we decided to do our own analysis to be sure we agreed with that selection. We compared Synergy to two other major student information systems, Infinite Campus and Skyward, and our committee selected Synergy as the best of the three solutions. We also liked the fact that Edupoint was partnered with TIES, which provides excellent benefits to its member districts. We enjoy working with TIES and appreciated the fact that we would continue to get support from the consortium.”

As a key technology source for its member districts, TIES provides software systems, professional development, technology integration training for teachers, transportation outsourcing, technical consulting, hardware and software support, and ISP services.

“Synergy’s growth in Minnesota reflects the need of K-12 districts for an education platform that provides a modern user interface and addresses both student information and learning management needs, built on a single, centralized database that eliminates the frustration of integration issues,” says Rob Wilson, Edupoint’s President and Chief Innovation Officer.  “We are pleased with Edupoint’s momentum in Minnesota and look forward to continuing our successful partnerships with TIES and Region 1 and to further expansion throughout the state.”
